Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of LGBTQI Life, the Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing programs that facilitate LGBTQI+ students success and educate the larger campus on issues related to sexuality, gender identity, intersectionality, and social justice.

Vanderbilt Chancellor Nick Zeppos and Dean of Students Mark Bandas have identified diversity, equity, inclusion, and mental health as top priorities for the institution and by extension the offices of the Dean of Students. Candidates must be able to articulate and demonstrate excellence and continued growth in knowledge, awareness, skills, and experience engaging with these priorities in a higher education environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 12 months experience.

Preferred Skills:

Master's degree in higher education; women’s, gender, or sexuality studies; social justice education; cultural or ethnic studies; or a related field
Professional or graduate-level experience in student affairs
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in delivering creative and inclusive campus programs
Expertise in creating/conducting presentations, speaking effectively in public, and writing
Experience advising students in group and individual settings
Ability to communicate with students, faculty, staff, and community members in a manner that promotes dialogue and understanding
Outstanding organizational skills, including ability to prioritize, and carry out multiple assignments in a timely fashion with minimal direction
Strong collaborative skills
Ability to utilize current technology and social networking to enhance work
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

Work with campus and community partners to design, coordinate, and deliver university-wide events related to sexuality and gender identity for students, faculty, and staff.
Provide resources, support, and referrals to students, faculty, and staff.
Serve as an advisor or liaison to both undergraduate and graduate student organizations.
Assist with the development and implementation of marketing and social media initiatives.
Perform standard administrative tasks, including gathering program data, writing reports, managing budget expenditures, and more.
Assist with facilitating trainings on sexuality and gender identity for groups across campus and in the Nashville community
Represent LGBTQI Life, the Dean of Students office, and Vanderbilt University on university, community, and national committees and boards.
Other duties as assigned.
