Carnegie Mellon University, School of Drama invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Directing within The John Wells Directing Program.
The Start Date is August 2019.

Qualifications
The candidate will hold an MFA or professional equivalence. Preferred minimum of 1-2 years teaching experience is desired. Candidates will mentor both graduate and undergraduate students and teach a mix of foundations, genres and contemporary forms as applicable to the expertise of the ideal candidate. Proficiency in the principles of directing, script analysis, staging techniques, new play development, works with heightened language, and contemporary theatre-making is desired. Experience in film, television, multimedia, or opera would be a plus.
The candidate will work closely with two other directing faculty. Responsibilities include teaching directing within the BFA and MFA conservatory programs, mentoring students in production, recruitment, selecting students, curriculum development, and taking part in the daily life and culture of the school. Candidates will have the opportunity to direct in the annual season of plays. The position is Pittsburgh-based. Maintaining professional engagement will be encouraged.
