The Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Sociocultural Anthropology. The appointment will begin July 1, 2019.

We seek a scholar with strengths in social and anthropological theory with an ongoing ethnographic research program. Applicants must be engaged in innovative work in the area(s) of energy and/or environmental humanities. Topics may include, but are not limited to, environmental justice, energy/climate governance, and the politics of environmental knowledge production. Geographic area is open. The successful candidate will complement existing faculty strengths in UTM Anthropology (https://www.utm.utoronto.ca/anthropology/) and in the tri- campus Anthropology Graduate Program (https://anthropology.utoronto.ca/graduate/).

Applicants must have a PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology by the date of appointment, or shortly thereafter, show evidence of excellence in teaching, and demonstrate excellence in research. Excellence in research will be demonstrated by publications in anthropological journals or equivalent peer-reviewed venues or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, and/or presentations at significant disciplinary conferences; grants or awards; and strong endorsements by referees of international stature. Evidence for excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments; the teaching statement; strong letters of reference; sample syllabi and course materials; teaching evaluations; and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application.
