Dear Consortium Members,

I am a new professional in the field working in a very new Pride Center. I work closely with our Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Compliance and our Title IX Coordinator is looking into making me a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Before doing so I wanted to see what other campuses are doing in regards to my position as the Director of a Pride Center. On our campus, confidential resources are the Women's Center Director and the United Campus Minister. The thought process of our Title IX Coordinator is that with me being a Deputy Title IX Coordinator some students might feel more inclined to talk to me about various issues regarding Title IX.

I just wanted to get other perspectives and thoughts on this.

Thank you!

Dani

Dani,

I’m happy to speak with you about this, but I would prefer to not respond to the entire list. Do you have an email address I can write, or can you please reach out to me at [email protected], if you would like to connect? Thank you!

Hi Dani,

I'm an Assistant Director (and only full time professional) for my LGBTQ+ center, and I'm also a confidential, trained Survivor Advocate. I would be happy to share more about that combination of roles if that helps. You can reach me at [email protected].

Hi Dani!

On the UWL Campus, I am one of four confidential resources. Two years ago the campus community decided that not everyone will go to the Violence Prevention Specialist, our Health Center, or Counseling to talk about being assaulted. So we planned, trained and added four more confidential resources. We represent Athletics, Office of Multicultural Student Services, Campus Climate and the Pride Center.

This week I was asked to teach the Intro to LGBTQ+ Studies for fall. No one has taught it for 4 years. They asked me what books/texts I would like. I am just wondering if anyone is currently teaching and has a suggestion for books or texts I should ask for?

Thank you!

Will
