Program Coordinator, Caltech Center for Diversity
Job Summary

The mission of the Caltech Center for Diversity (CCD) is to provide education, programming, and advocacy to support the campus’ commitment to equity, access, and inclusion in all university practices. We create and implement campus-wide initiatives and programs that raise awareness, fosters allyship, and ultimately, ensures the inclusion of all members of our community.

The program coordinator will report to the Senior Director of Diversity. As a member of the Caltech Center for Diversity team, the program coordinator will provide support for primarily undergraduate student populations through planning, executing, and assessing programs, events and activities of the center. The program coordinator will handle the logistics and details for campus-wide events. They will also support student club leaders and serve as a liaison to our undergraduate and graduate/postdoctoral student populations.
Job Duties

• Assists the Senior Director and Assistant Directors with the development, planning, and coordination of programs.
• Attends, supports, and supervises evening and weekend events.
• Manages budget and spending for event programming.
• Establish appropriate linkages to special populations or community groups served; promote program through participation in advocacy groups, associations and other local, regional or national organizations.
• Develop, recommend and implement program plans and objectives; coordinate delivery of services to program participants; assure participation guidelines are followed.
• Serve as liaison between program personnel, participants, clients, administrators, faculty and students; provide information, program requirements and other pertinent information.
• Provide regular reports to management and Federal/State agencies as requested; participate on program reviews; assure program compliance with Federal or State program guidelines.
• Develop workshop materials, promotional materials and other program documentation.
• Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
• Participates in and or contributes to creating leadership for programs and professional development activities for students.
• Coordinates the Freshman Summer Research Institute- including all programming and excusions for nights and weekends in the summer.
• Supervises the planning, coordination, implementation of weekly, monthly and annual events; creates and oversees content development for informational brochures, weekly newsletter, social media posts, website, press releases, posters/fliers, and other marketing materials; completes quarterly reports and performs other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with study in job related area and job related experience
• Minimum of one year previous experience in student development required;
• Must be available on weekends and afterhours
• General knowledge of event/program planning, group facilitation, presentation experience, and student development theory preferred
• Knowledge of or ability to gain such knowledge of LGBTQ+, Women, Underrepresented student needs in STEM.
• Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and; recognize multicultural value systems and work accordingly
Preferred Qualifications

• Background in student life/affairs and leadership education preferred
