Internship Listing
Consortium/Calamus LGBTA Graduate Summer Internship
The Pennsylvania State University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally Student Resource Center
(LGBT SRC) is seeking to host a highly motivated and innovative summer intern whose academic and
practical interest are to contribute to the field of LGBT Higher Education. With financial support from
the Calamus Foundation, this intern will be charged with completing a major project for the Consortium
of Higher Education Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Resource Professionals which include:
- Conduct assessments and compile learning outcomes to support the development of
intentional services and programs in LGBT Centers nationwide. This project further
solidifies best practices for LGBT Professionals and is therefore intended as an addition to
the LGBTQArchitect.
- Compose best practices for Leadership Development for LGBTAQQI students, such as
leadership retreat models, undergraduate internship position descriptions for LGBT Centers,
LGBTAQQI Leadership Seminar Series, LGBTAQQI student organization leadership
position descriptions, etc.
- Identify campuses that currently do not offer services to students, faculty, and staff in the
LGBTAQQI community and determine campuses that are looking to implement services or
create a center. By communicating with these colleges and universities, the intern would
determine how the Consortium can function as a resource to help these institutions serve the
LGBTAQQI population through best practices and the LGBTQArchitect.
Following the completion of the project(s), the intern will be sent to the 2013 Creating Change
conference organized by the National Gay and Lesbian Task force. They will present their project to
the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals. Additionally, the Graduate Student,
pending conference approval, will present a workshop at the conference focused on one of their
projects.
Interns will receive housing assistance, a summer stipend, and funds for assistance with 2012 Creating
Change conference expenses.
