Summer Graduate Internship in the LGBTA Student Resource Center

Overview:

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Ally Student Resource Center offers up to three summer Graduate Internships through The Consortium and the Pennsylvania State University.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Scheduling Straight Talk presentations and maintaining statistics for the program
  • Organize and update programming files and databases
  • Resource distribution: clip-boards, listservs, brochures etc.
  • Become familiar with LGBTA student resource centers and how they operate
  • Assist with alumni development activities
  • Supervising summer undergraduate student Interns
  • Assisting with programming for upcoming year including: LGBTA Student Leadership Retreat, annual Fall staff training, Lavender Graduation Ceremony, Lecture Series
  • Representing the Center at various events and outreach activities
  • Reading list for LGBTA student affairs professional to be provided by the director
  • Other projects as assigned by graduate student initiation and interest

Qualifications:

Students interested in social justice issues and the wellbeing of LGBT students are preferred. Applicants are typically enrolled in the IUP Higher Education, College Student Affairs Program or other Student Affairs Programs around the country. All applicants must be in good academic standing.

Terms of Appointment:

150 hours appointment; typically sometime between May 20-August 15th. Housing may be provided by the LGBTA SRC at The Pennsylvania State University.
