In collaboration with other Diversity Services staff, evaluate existing programs and strategize areas of improvement and future development.

Student Organization Support
Serve as a Program Advisor to several student organizations. Management Responsibility
Supervise one graduate student employee. Oversee the training and development programs for student employees. Recruit, train, promote and coordinate opportunities for student volunteers.
General Departmental Duties
Along with the Director, provide frontline support and referral services for all students who contact the office for assistance. Manage the department's website content. Coordinate the department's marketing efforts. Represent the university on several organizations or committees outside of the university. Represent the department on various university committees and working groups as assigned, including the President's Commission on the Status of LGBT Faculty, Staff, and Students. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Social Justice, Counseling, Education, Sociology, Psychology, or other related field.

University of Michigan has an opening for an Assistant Director, Office of Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Affairs.
The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director in the day-to-day management of the Office of Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Affairs (LGBTA) as well as directing major programming events and on-going programming activities. The Assistant Director provides student leadership development, student group advising, and a high office visibility profile.
Characteristic Duties
*Provide leadership for the office on behalf of LGBTQ and Ally identified students.
*Supervise graduate and/or undergraduate interns and volunteers on specific projects.
*Serve on the senior leadership team of the office.
*Design, coordinate and deliver campus-wide LGBT celebratory events, including LGBT Welcome Week, National Coming-Out Week, Transgender Awareness Week, Spring Pride.
*Coordinate and Manage extensive Speakers Bureau Program.
*Provide collaboration and coalition-building opportunities for the campus community.
*Meet with and serve as a resource for students and make appropriate referrals.
*Provide guidance to student organizations regarding organizational development issues (i.e. membership recruitment, retention, etc.).
*Design, coordinate, and deliver educational and community development programs and workshops for the University community.
*Provide leadership development opportunities for students.
*Provide guidance, mentoring, and leadership to students in the implementation of their programming ideas.
*Maintain program reports and statistics.
*Represent the Office and the Division on University committees and boards.
*Represent the University on community, regional, and/or national committees and boards.
*Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, Social Justice Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
* Leadership training development
* Group facilitation experience
* Counseling background
* Multicultural programs development experience
* 1-3 years experience working with LGBT students/student organizations in a higher education environment—includes grad assistantship positions
* Student Affairs experience
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience
* Demonstrated commitment to LGBT concerns and civil rights
* Comprehensive understanding of social justice and the intersection of identities and oppression

Miami University is a state-assisted comprehensive university located in southwestern Ohio. The central campus is in Oxford, a small city located 35 miles north of Cincinnati and 45 miles southwest of Dayton. Regional campuses are located in two nearby cities, Hamilton and Middletown, and a European Center in Luxembourg. Miami University is seeking an Assistant Director of the Office of Diversity Affairs and Coordinator of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (GLBTQ) Services to serve as the primary person who will contribute to the overall goal of insuring that all students feel welcome at Miami University. They will also contribute to educate the community on GLBTQ issues. Miami University’s Office of Diversity Affairs is responsible for the development and implementation of programs, activities, and procedures designed to enhance the academic success, retention, and personal development of multicultural students. The Office of Diversity Affairs embodies a commitment to diversity as expressed through abilities, age, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic differences.
GLBTQ Services, within the Office of Diversity Affairs, advances the mission of Miami University by creating an affirming community dedicated to intellectual and personal development. These efforts assists the University in establishing an environment where learning is not only encouraged, but sustained through positive engagement and critical thinking. The mission of GLBTQ Services is to make the Miami community an open, safe and inclusive environment for people of all sexualities and gender identities. This is done by providing programming, support services and resources intended to raise awareness regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues; and by confronting and eliminating homophobic and heterosexist attitudes and behaviors. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Administrative Director for Diversity Affairs. The incumbent will interact with senior administrators within Student Affairs as well as the university’s Associate Vice President for Institutional Diversity.
Duties:
Partner with other offices to create a welcoming campus climate for all students. Create educational programs to increase awareness about GLBTQ issues. Provide support for GLBTQ issues. Serve as campus-wide resource. Monitor and assess the impact of GLBTQ office. Maintain various web sites related to the GLBTQ office that will provide resources to students and the community on GLBTQ issues
We wish for the assistant director to have experience in higher education, deep knowledge in GLBTQ issues and the ability to work collaboratively with others, to be data driven, minimal assessment skills and familiar with CAS standards for GLBTQ offices.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree, background in GLBTQ services; applicant must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
Desired Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with three years of experience. Preference will also be given to applicants who hold a master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, Education Administration or other closely related field.
Salary and Benefits:
$40,000-$43,000; excellent benefits; full-time, 12-month contract

The New York University Division of Student Life is seeking a talented individual for a position as an Associate Director of Student Life/Director of LGBT Student Services. In this highly visible role, the selected candidate will provide leadership, budget planning and monitoring of all LGBT programs, classes and workshops enhancing an inclusive campus environment supportive of diversity. In addition, he/she will oversee student diversity services and programs and develop LGBT centric programs and activities. Other key responsibilities will be to:
* Provide counseling to students on diversity issues;
* Oversee training to members of the University community on how to establish supportive environments and serve as advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered students;
* Manage daily office operations; and
* Advise the AVP on matters pertaining to Intercultural and LGBT student affairs.
This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.
Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Counseling or a related field while a Master's degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration or Student Personnel Administration is preferred. Also required are 5 years' relevant experience working with students with diverse backgrounds, designing educational programs, event planning, and student advisement. This must include experience with supervision and office and budget administration.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills; the ability to develop, implement, and interpret policies and procedures; the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels; and knowledge of standard office applications. Experience developing or administering a program related to diversity and social justice is desirable. Knowledge of Presentation Software (e.g. PowerPoint) is also a plus.
