How to Apply
1.
Select a qualified intern supervisor. Supervisors must be
current Directors of LGBT Centers/Offices at their institutions,
with 50% or more of their duties devoted to LGBT resource
development. Additionally, supervisors must maintain a current
Consortium membership.
2.
The student and internship supervisor must sign a written
agreement stipulating the terms of the commitment. The intern need
not be enrolled in classes at the site of the internship. Compensation
for the intern’s time (whether credit, community service,
monetary or “in-kind”) is at the discretion of
the supervising consortium member.
3.
Submit an Internship Application (pdf) to the Consortium
executive board. All objectives must be compiled
and reported in their entirety to the Consortium before interns
may begin working.
4.
Upon completion of the internship, provide a summary report of the
internship activities.
The goal of the internship should be to provide a needed service
to the LGBT community at the site of the internship. For example,
creating an educational speakers bureau at an institution
that does not already have an LGBT speakers program. The intern
should also provide a service to the Consortium. Using the
previous example, the intern would then represent the Consortium,
presenting the methodology of creating an LGBT speakers bureau
during NGLTF’s Creating Change conference.
