The Williams Institute authored "Best Practices for Asking Questions about Sexual Orientation on Surveys" (November 2009). This report presents the findings from a multi-year effort of an expert panel of scholars, the Sexual Minority Assessment Research Team (SMART) to identify the best practices for asking questions about sexual orientation on surveys.
