Job description
This position supports the function of the Sexual and Relationship Violence Response Program through direct service, education and outreach, and administrative support.

This position will be responsible for providing direct services to students affected by dating/domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, or stalking; providing safety planning, resource referral and case management. Additionally this position provides support for students throughout on­ and off­ campus reporting processes, including both Student Code of Conduct complaints and complaints against faculty and staff. The advocate will serve as a liaison between the student and campus departments such as Residence Life, Campus Public Safety, Student Health and Counseling, Student Legal Services, and the Office of Student Life, ensuring that students are informed of PSU policies and reporting options; maintain reporting obligations and data collection responsibilities.

The Advocate will be expected to learn all relevant technologies necessary for the administration of the program including Banner, DataMaster, Symplicity Software, and any grant-related software.

The Advocate will be expected to participate in public speaking on or off-campus about the Women’s Resource Center in general and the Sexual & Relationship Violence Response Program in particular, and will have an exceptional ability to explain complex concepts to audiences in plain language while building rapport and trust.

The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate a level of professionalism that will allow them to work closely with students as well as administrators and campus officials in order to support student needs. They will be able to work independently as well as with a team to ensure that collaborative processes work smoothly. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to take initiative, problem solve, and should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The person in this role will be a part of an after-hours rotation of staff advocates who take calls on weekday evenings as well as weekends.
