The Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) invites applications for a teaching stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with a specialization in Pedagogy, Professional Practice and Child Development. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2019.
We seek applicants with expertise in teacher education pedagogy and child development. Applicants are expected to have a strong academic background with scholarly and practical expertise in one or more of the following areas: child and/or teacher development, critical pedagogy, or childhood education.
The successful candidate will have received his or her Ph.D. in education or a related discipline by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will have experience teaching at the university level, with evidence of excellence in teaching, teacher education student development, and educational leadership. Expertise in teacher education research, teaching education, and elementary school pedagogy and practice are essential. He/she should be capable of combining disciplinary expertise with innovative, effective teaching methods that enhance the excellence and diversity of OISE’s scholarly community. Evidence of excellence in university teaching, pedagogy, and teaching leadership must be clearly demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference from referees of high standing, and the teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy, course evaluations, course outlines, and selected course materials) submitted as part of the application.
The Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development is an international leader in basic and applied research in education, human development, and applied, clinical, and counselling psychology. The primary duties of the successful candidate will consist of teaching and service within the Child Study and Education program. Based on the teacher-researcher framework, its mission is to provide graduate students with theoretical, research, and professional training in preparation for K-6 teaching and leadership positions. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
