Position Description Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions Plan, administer, and evaluate program activities that result in participant post-secondary persistence and graduation. Recruit, interview and review potential recruitment of eligible students. Plans, coordinates, and presents various college coaching workshops including but not limited to financial aid, financial literacy, graduation advising, career exploration, graduate school enrollment and other academic support. Advising program participants with course selection, degree planning, securing internships and study-abroad opportunities. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly leadership reports required by the department, division, and federal agency. Effective academic coaching of SSS students with goal setting, time management, self-advocacy, and study skills. Support the TRIO programs total quality management philosophy. Hire and supervise student assistants/tutors for department program. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, campus policies and administrative regulations.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree preferred in higher education, social work, education, or related fields from an accredited college or university. Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of relevant experience working with a TRIO program or similar related project for disadvantaged and at-risk college students. Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting project participants.
