BASIC FUNCTION:

Under general policy direction, plan, organize, integrate and direct the work and programs of an assigned school, campus or administration department; participate actively in shared governance activities and initiatives; work in close cooperation with other instructional and administrative deans; provide expert professional assistance and leadership to the President and executive management on district-wide programs and strategies for achieving the district’s mission and institutional goals within areas of campus responsibility; and perform related duties as assigned.

The Dean, Continuing and Community Education will have site responsibility for the MiraCosta College Community Learning Center (CLC) and administrative responsibilities for the following: all noncredit and adult education programs including the Adult High School, noncredit English as a Second Language (ESL), and general noncredit classes, including special education, short-term vocational, and older adults, as well as having administrative oversight for the Technology Career Institute (TCI) and its programs. The Dean, Continuing and Community Education will collaborate with faculty and colleagues in the development of programs or initiatives that serve historically underrepresented students, and demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:

1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a field of study relevant to the assignment; AND

2. At least one year of formal training, internship or leadership experience relevant to the assignment; AND

3. Possession of the minimum requirements to serve as a faculty member at the community college level (see the 2018 Handbook of “Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges” at https://asccc.org/sites/default/files/Minimum_Qualifications2018.pdf); AND

4. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the cultural, development, socioeconomic, ethnic, disability and academic diversity of community college students, faculty and staff is required.

COMPENSATION:
