Job Title: Coordinator, LGBTQ+ Resource Center
Posting Number: A23599
Job Description:

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF INCLUSION AND MULTICULTURAL ENGAGEMENT:
Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement (IME) aligns with the University of Arizona’s core value of a diverse and inclusive community. The role of IME is to work toward institutional transformation based on the belief that the richness of our culture is because of our diversity; that people are the source of our strength; and their different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences make us stronger. IME works to build communities reflective of diverse cultural knowledge of the University of Arizona to create an engaged, vibrant, and inclusive campus. To these ends, IME is comprised of a central office that focuses on diversity and social justice training, resource development, and organizing across the cultural resource centers that are housed within IME. These centers include: African American Student Affairs (AASA), Asian Pacific American Student Affairs (APASA), Common Ground Alliance (CGA), Global Experiential Learning (GEL), Guerrero Student Center (GSC), LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Native American Student Affairs (NASA), Women & Gender Resource Center (WGRC). IME is part of the larger Division of Equity and Inclusion in the Executive Office of the President of the University of Arizona.

About The LGBTQ+ Resource Center:
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ+) Resource Center creates a safe space for hundreds of students every year on the University of Arizona campus through programs, trainings, and events. The mission of the LGBTQ+ Resource Center is to build, sustain and strengthen a safe, inclusive, and open environment for students, faculty, staff, appointed professionals, alumni, parents, and guests of all gender identities and sexual orientations. The LGBTQ+ Resource Center falls alongside our campus’ Cultural and Resource Centers within Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement in the Division of Equity, Inclusion, & Title IX.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coordinator for the LGBTQ+ Resource Center works closely with the Director and staff to run a robust and vibrant resource center. The Coordinator guides and advises students in creating programs that create a sense of belonging, and offer opportunities for personal growth and leadership development. The Coordinator oversees programs and services dedicated to supporting an inclusive environment that foster a sense of belonging for students from diverse backgrounds, and provides an opportunity to impact the larger University community’s educational experiences. The Coordinator takes primary responsibility for the coordination of Safe Zone, a training program designed to teach people how to be supportive allies to LGBTQ+ people.
