The LGBT Resource Center at the University of Utah is hiring a Coordinator of Education and Outreach. The Coordinator oversees development and delivery of educational workshops, student leadership programs, presentations, and educational resources for the university community. Coordinator leads in outreach activities for the office. Assists with daily operations of the center space, supervision of student staff, programming, budget, strategic planning, and reporting.


1. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate educational workshops and presentations addressing LGBTQIA+ issues from social justice frameworks, and with an understanding of the needs of LGBTQIA+ students across multiple intersections of identity including race, gender, ability, class, citizenship status, etc.

2. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate leadership trainings and programs for LGBTQIA+ students.

3. Lead outreach efforts for the LGBT RC, including maintaining relationships with campus and community partners, tabling, and building the LGBT RC’s social media presence. Develop creative and innovative methods for engaging a campus of approximately 32,000 students.

4. Supervise student staff, including graduate assistants, undergraduate student workers, and practicum students. Supervision duties will be shared with the LGBT RC Director.

5. Meet one-on-one with students to provide support, resource referral, and crisis intervention. Advise sponsored student organizations associated with the LGBT RC. Provide informal advising and mentorship to student organizations centering LGBTQIA+ students and/or social justice as needed. Student support duties will be shared with LGBT RC Director.

6. Author resources to support the success of a diverse campus population, including maintaining website resource library, creating resource guides centering the needs of specific student populations, and creating resources outlining best practices for faculty and staff. Maintain educational areas of the website to be up-to-date and responsive to the needs of diverse student populations.

7. Evaluate and assess education and outreach efforts via regular quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs Office of Assessment Evaluation and Research.

8. Assist the LGBT RC staff in planning and coordinating annual events and programs.

9. Assist LGBT RC Director in managing daily operations of a student cultural center, including administrative tasks, budgeting, and the writing of annual reports. Represent the LGBT RC on university committees. Contribute to the strategic planning and vision of the LGBT RC.
