THE DEPARTMENT:
To uphold the Mission of the University, the Office of Student Life and Cultural Centers (OSLCC) exists to support student development, cultural enhancement, social justice and academic excellence. The OSLCC adheres to the premise that student involvement results in retention, improved academic performance and leadership.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator of Leadership & Student Involvement will understand, interpret and enforce Federal, State, Local, University, Foundation, IRA and ASI policies as they relate to the mission and purpose of the Office of Student Life and Cultural Centers (OSLCC) and all programs and services; coordinate risk management and education programs; provide sound fiscal administration, allocation, direction, guidance and disbursement of student activities budgets; oversee multiple budgets, including but not limited to SDLI and special programs and events; responsible for budget projections, annual budget submissions, re-lines, and approvals for all expenditures and budget transfers; initiate co sponsors, develop fundraising opportunities, engage in grant writing activities to secure additional funding for SDLI and other OSLCC programs and special projects. The incumbent will initiate co-sponsorship, develop fundraising opportunities, engage in grant writing activities to secure additional funding for SDLI and other OSLCC programs and special projects; coordinate the Student Development and Leadership institute (SDLI), in collaboration with numerous campus and community partners; through SDLI, assist with the development and presentation of workshops, conferences, retreats with concentrate on providing established student leaders with avenues by which to gain personal and organizational skills to effectively assume and fulfill leadership roles on campus, at work, and in the community; co chair the council transition retreat for new execution board members for all academic and at-large councils; serve as the 3D Leadership Conference planning committee; a day long leadership conference for all Cal Poly Pomona students; coordinates all programming logistics and promotions for the Co-Curricular Portfolio; coordinates the Leadership Library, a resource for students, staff and faculty; through SDLI, develop new leadership initiatives to increase student engagement on campus (residential and commuter students); may develop a leadership clearinghouse, conduct a leadership inventory and identify leadership resources, and other SDLI credit for campus wide leadership training. The incumbent will provide lead coordination and leadership and diversity workshop requests that come to the Office of Students Life and Cultural Centers; offer educational training, enhance on line resources, and programming support and training for student organizations and club advisors; provide training and workshop facilitation as requested for on campus groups; develop and implement various student involvement programs and services designed to address the needs of the diverse campus community and the mission of Cal Poly Pomona and to engage students in the life of the campus; responsible for Student Organization Development. Enhance student clubs & organization through intentional programming; develop on going recognition program for clubs and organization, councils and their faculty/staff advisors; implement an end of the year recognition activities; offers training and on-line resources as well as conduct assessment and on-going evaluation; coordinate the annual Club Chartering/Re-chartering process; oversee and enhance the club organization data base and generates reports; serve as the liaison to the Director of Judicial Affairs for Club/Organization judicial issues. The incumbent will present workshops, which address leadership development for officers to all clubs and organizations and provides consultation on policies and procedures, leadership skills, budgets, campus resources, publicity, and co-sponsorships. The incumbent will ensure compliance of Executive Order 1006 (formerly known as EO 969); co-chairs and implements major programs for the OSLCC, the division and the University, some are coordinated in conjunction with other department staff members and event co-sponsors; oversee development and distribution of all OSLCC publicity materials including brochures, flyer, booklets, co-curricular portfolio, website, postcards, ads, banners) to the Cal Poly Pomona faculty, staff and students and surrounding community to publicize all OSLCC departmental program and services; maintain and keep the websites up to date and accurate; design and implement new innovation to increase services offered via the web. The incumbent will develop and measure learning outcomes for all programs and services and provide written reports; assist with other programs offered by the department, and as appropriate, serves on University gatherings and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution AND three (3) years of professional student services work field (A Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience OR a doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in the relevant field may be substituted for three years of the required professional experience). Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise and organize programs and activities; ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff and the public; ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action; ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters; ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions; and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of the campus procedures and activities and the overall organization is required. Finalists will be required to submit verification of upper division coursework (i.e., transcripts).
