The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL. We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes a number of departments: Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.

Position Summary
The Violence Prevention Specialist develops and coordinates institutional responses to interpersonal violence on campus. Responsibilities include: providing advocacy to victims of sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and relationship violence; maintaining appropriate case management records; answering requests for information, resources and referrals; preparing and delivering presentations about interpersonal violence; planning and delivering public awareness and prevention education efforts; hiring, training and supervising graduate assistants, student interns, volunteers, and student peer educators; data collection and reporting; collaborating to ensure institutional compliance with Title IX, Campus SaVE, and the Clery Act; and managing the Violence Prevention budget.

The Violence Prevention Specialist actively networks with a variety of campus and community groups, including the Office of Student Life, the Office of Residence Life, the Office for Campus Climate and Diversity, the Coordinator of Student Wellness, University Police, the Student Health Center, the Counseling and Testing Center, the La Crosse domestic violence and sexual assault response teams, and area law enforcement agencies and medical centers. The Violence Prevention Specialist serves on UWL’s Title IX Team, and is an advisory member of UWL’s Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team.

This is a full-time position and includes a State of Wisconsin benefits package.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Experience working in the field of sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and/or relationship violence prevention, intervention, and/or advocacy.
• Experience collaborating with campus and/or community resources.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications
• A Master’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Some supervisory experience.
• Experience working with college-aged populations.
