Job Description---

The Assistant Director for LGBTQ Programs in the Gender + Equality Center is responsible for coordinating a wide range of initiatives including LGBTQ Programs, LGBTQ Ally trainings, and Mosaic Social Justice Symposium.

This position will serve as an advocate and After-hours Coordinator on the OU Advocates gender-based violence response team. They will also supervise student advisory boards, interns, and peer educators. The position will provide overall coordination and support for planning and presenting special projects. They will also assist in the administrative functions of the center including financial requests, program tracking, greeting of visitors, communicating with students via email and social networking, answering phones and program assessment. Specific tasks include:

Work with the LGBTQ Program Advisory Board to plan, conduct and evaluate campus programming for the LGBTQ community
Coordinate LGBTQ Ally training including training facilitation, scheduling monthly brown bag lunches, and on-going assessment
Plan, organize, and implement Mosaic: Social Justice Symposium
Develop and administer program assessments
Assist in the administrative functions of the center including financial requests, program tracking, greeting of visitors, communicating with students via email, social networking, and answering phones
Supervise the LGBTQ Programs Intern
Chair a sub-committee on the Pink & Black Ball Planning Committee
Act as an advocate for OU Advocates
Serve as an After-hours Coordinator for OU Advocates
Represent the Center at community meetings when director is not available

Job Requirements---

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND

0-24 months of student programming

Skills:

Basic computer operating knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite and Prezi.
Ability to multi-task efficiently and operate under minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Ability to deal with difficult issues with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Understanding and substantive knowledge of women’s and LGBTQ issues.
Experience working with women and/or the LGBTQ community.
Certifications:

Department Preferences:

Master’s Degree.
Degree in Social Work, Adult and Higher Education, or Human Relations.
Two years of Higher Education student programming experience.
