Associate Dean of Students for Diversity and Inclusion

Hamilton College seeks a thoughtful, strategic, and experienced student life professional for the position of Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion.

The Associate Dean will work closely with students, faculty, staff, and institutional leaders to strategically advance diversity and inclusion efforts across the College as part of its overall mission and vision. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Associate Dean will serve as an advocate for students from diverse racial, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, sexual orientations, and abilities. The Associate Dean will work to help these students thrive at Hamilton by providing individual, ad hoc support, as well as by developing programs and initiatives that will ensure systemic, structural support for large numbers of students. In addition, the Associate Dean will serve as a campus-wide resource for students, student organizations, faculty, and staff regarding diversity and inclusion.

As a leadership-level staff member for the Division of Student Life, the Associate Dean will set a vision for and supervise a unit that fosters an environment that celebrates diversity, promotes respect and civility of discourse, challenges students to grow in their understanding of themselves and others, and encourages free expression of widely varying views. A Bachelor’s degree is required; and advanced degree will be preferred.

Hamilton’s 1,350-acre campus is situated on College Hill overlooking the picturesque New England-style village of Clinton, N.Y. Hamilton is conveniently located 10 minutes from Utica to the northeast, 45 minutes from Syracuse to the west, and 90 minutes from Albany to the east. The College takes seriously its motto “Know Thyself.” It offers students what few places do: the promise of discovery and the rare opportunity to become the architects of their own intellectual development in an open curriculum.
